Episode 130: Mallory Taub
Mallory Taub is a Director of Sustainability in Gensler’s Climate Action & Sustainability studio. She collaborates across disciplines to improve the ecological and health impact of buildings that provide inspiring daily experiences for all. She played a key role in the development of the Gensler Product Sustainability (GPS) Standards, an open-source framework that streamlines material selection to reduce environmental impact in architectural interiors.
We had a great conversation with Mallory just after Climate Week in New York. We heard about how Mallory engages locally, regionally, and nationally and asked her to talk about her work on circularity strategies in New York (city and state) and beyond. We talked about theories of change and leverage points, and Mallory explained her deep desire to go faster than one building at a time. “That's how we bend the curve,” she says. “I seek opportunities to be part of coalitions and make time for civic and policy work.”
Asked about opportunities for progress. Mallory pointed to the critical role of integrators: “We can help communicate, ‘why are we doing this?’ and ‘who needs to be working together and when?’ That can help us increase the adoption rate of all the knowledge and solutions we have today. That’s something we can do now.”
